Root Canal Treatment

Instructions
For Root Canal Treatment

Instructions
For a New Denture

Root Canal Treatment can sometimes be a complex and time consuming procedure, the protocol of which varies from patient to patient and tooth to tooth, in the same patient.

  • You MAY experience some discomfort/pain/swelling in and/or around the tooth that is undergoing treatment, which may last for a couple of days after the treatment is completed. Please take the prescribed medication to ease off the symptoms.
  • You may eat after the numbness wears off but please refrain from eating anything hard and hot until the treatment is completed.
  • To protect the tooth and to keep the temporary filling in place, avoid eating hard and sticky food and try to chew on the other side of your mouth until the treatment is completed.
  • Root canal treated teeth tend to become brittle and without a crown they are at a risk for fracture hence it is recommended that you speak to your dentist about a crown if it has not been advised.
  • Continue to brush and floss regulary once the treatment is completed.
  • Visit your dentist regularly for check up and oral prophylaxis every six months.
